Procrastination and Self-Care
Breaking the Shame–Avoidance Loop
Procrastination isn’t always about poor time management or lack of discipline. For those who’ve lived with complex trauma, putting off self-care often comes from survival strategies learned in childhood where needs were ignored, rest was criticized, or being selfless was praised above all else.
In this course, you will explore how self-care procrastination is tied to nervous system responses like fight, flight, or freeze, and how shame-based beliefs can make even small acts of care feel unsafe or selfish. Through Andrea’s story, reflection questions, and somatic practices, you’ll learn to recognize these patterns, interrupt the shame–avoidance cycle, and begin building a self-care identity that feels safe and sustainable.
