Abandonment + Complex Trauma
Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 4:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM CT.
Maybe you love hard, give generously, and hold on tight, while privately a quiet certainty sits underneath it all: that anyone who gets close enough will eventually go. A partner's silence or a moment of distance can feel less like an ordinary lull and more like the beginning of the end. You tell yourself that if you just hold on a little tighter, read the signs early enough, or become whoever they need you to be, they'll finally stay. But that certainty never quite arrives.
For many people, this fear didn't come out of nowhere. It often forms as a real wound rather than neediness, rooted in a child's deepest need to attach and the shame that follows when that need goes unmet; abandonment can take different shapes, including physical loss, overprotection, and inconsistent connection, and each one can teach a child that closeness cannot be relied on. It worked, in the sense that it kept the fear at the front of your mind where you could try to manage it. But it also means the patterns it produces, holding on too tightly, testing a partner, or being drawn to people who cannot stay, can quietly recreate the very abandonment they were meant to prevent.
This 1-hour webinar looks at how Complex Trauma can give rise to the fear of abandonment, how self-abandonment often runs alongside it, and what it actually takes to build a steadier, more trusting way to stay connected, to others and to yourself.
We'll also leave time for a live Q&A at the end so you can bring your own questions and experiences into the conversation.
If you've ever wondered why closeness always seems to come with the fear that it will end, this is a good place to start. See you there!
